HPV: Can a sexually transmitted virus cause cancer?
Human Papillomavirus or HPV is the main cause of cancer of the cervix. It can also cause cancer of the vagina, vulva, anus and penis. We now have the means to fight HPV-related disease. PAP tests offer early detection of cancer. HPV vaccines offer prevention of infection. Now we need to raise awareness and spread this knowledge.
